Justin Vincent has been at Atascocita High School since it's opening in August 2006. A 1995 graduate of La Marque High School (an active member of Mr. Sheffield’s original theatre program), he attended Texas A&M University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English. After graduation and living for a year in Southern California, Justin came back to Texas to earn his Master of Fine Arts in Theatre at the University of Houston. There Mr. Vincent was able to expand his knowledge of theatre in all areas, including acting, directing, movement, voice, theory, history and criticism, lighting, and stage combat. At UofH he also acted in or directed a number of Main stage, side stage, and class productions, most notably as Captain Robbie Ross/John Arscott in Our Country's Good on the UofH Main stage, and as Peter in a production of The Zoo Story. In order to complete his MFA, Mr. Vincent returned to California to serve his graduate internship at the Laguna Playhouse in Laguna Beach. There he was given the opportunity to work and associate with professional actors, directors, and other artists, as well as serving in the scene shop building and painting sets on a massive scale. Since graduating from University of Houston in 2003, he has taught in Deer Park ISD at Fairmont Junior High and here in Humble ISD at AHS. Mr. Vincent truly enjoys working with high school students, teaching theatre classes, directing fall productions and constructing sets, and co-directing the UIL One-Act Play. Mr. Vincent is thrilled to have advanced to the UIL OAP State Competition for the past 3 years in a row with 3 amazing shows: Fuente Ovejuna (2008), The Miser (2009), and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (2010 First Runner-up in State 5A). Many of the students involved in those productions have gone on to major in Theatre Arts at universities and colleges all over the country, earning many scholarships along the way. Through close relationships with students and parents, a strong foundation in performance and educational theatre, and a desire to help students grow and develop creatively, Mr. Vincent is looking forward to the continued success of AHS Theatre Arts, and providing the opportunity and assistance for even more students to attend college to pursue their career ambitions, whatever they might be.
